Built only for government institution hostels

Every hostel room
metered. Every unit
accounted for.

CampusWise installs prepaid electricity sub-meters at room level in government institution hostels, so consumption is recorded, students see their own usage, and your energy conservation becomes something you can put on paper.

We do not serve private hostels, paying guest accommodation, residential societies or commercial real estate. Government institutions are the only customer we build for.

We work with

  • Central and state universities with residential hostels
  • IITs, NITs, IIMs, IIITs and institutes of national importance
  • Government medical colleges and resident doctor hostels
  • Government engineering colleges, polytechnics and ITIs
  • Government residential schools and their hostel blocks
  • Agricultural, veterinary and technical universities

We do not work with

  • Private hostels and paying guest accommodation
  • Residential societies, apartments and gated communities
  • Commercial real estate, malls and office buildings
  • Distribution utilities and discom metering programmes
  • Industrial and factory energy monitoring

This is a deliberate choice. A government hostel has a purchase committee, a budget head, an accreditation cycle and an audit trail. Building for that one buyer is why the deployment fits inside your process instead of fighting it.

What an unmetered hostel costs the institution

Electricity sits inside the hostel fee, so consumption has no owner and no record. Three consequences follow, and all three land on your office.

The institution absorbs every excess

Fixed hostel fees against variable consumption. Whatever a student leaves running is paid from the institution's budget, with no visibility into which block or room caused it.

Disputes have nothing to settle them

Apportioned or estimated charges invite argument. Without a room-level record, the warden's office cannot close a complaint with evidence, only with authority.

Audit and accreditation get estimates

Manual readings cannot produce the dated, room-level consumption history that a BEE energy audit or a NAAC self study actually asks for.

What we install

One prepaid sub-meter per room. One app per student. One dashboard for the estate office. Consumption becomes visible, personal and recorded from the first day.

Prepaid sub-meter, room by room

BIS-certified meters installed at room or sub-unit level in the existing panel. No civil work, no rewiring, residents are not moved out.

Balance and usage on the student's phone

Own units, own balance, own history. A low-balance alert well before cutoff, and online recharge at any hour.

Estate office dashboard

Every room and every block on one screen, with alerts, balance status and exportable monthly reports. No manual reading rounds.

Records you can file

Room-level and per-student consumption, before and after comparisons and conservation trends, exported in a form your audit team can attach.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

How the system is put together

Meters are read at the panel, data aggregates over a local network to a gateway, and the gateway reports to a secure backend. Nothing new has to be run through the building.

01

Smart meter

BIS-approved dual source energy meter at room or sub-unit level, inside the existing distribution panel.

02

Adaptor

Reads four to twelve meters on one panel over wired RS485 and relays the data onward.

03

Gateway

Aggregates adaptor data over a secure RF mesh and transmits it to the backend over a private APN.

04

Backend platform

Calculates consumption, deducts from prepaid balances, raises alerts and serves the app and the dashboard.

  • Own balance, own history. Units consumed, current balance and usage trend, for their own room only.
  • Alerts before, not after. A low-balance notification well ahead of the cutoff threshold, so interruption is avoidable.
  • Recharge at any hour. Online top up from the app. Supply restores on recharge without a service call.
  • Backup source shown separately. Where the campus runs DG backup, consumption on each source is displayed on its own.
GETTING IT APPROVED

Built to move through an institution,
not around it

A government campus does not buy on a demonstration. It needs a written specification, a defensible cost, and a result it can show before committing further. The programme is shaped around exactly that sequence.

Nothing to sanction to begin

The site assessment costs the institution nothing and commits it to nothing. No file has to move before we visit.

A document, not a pitch

You receive a written deployment plan with meter specification, block layout, timeline and costing, in a form you can place before your committee as it stands.

Proof before scale

The pilot is sized as evidence, not as a purchase. Ninety days of data from your own hostel is what the case for a wider rollout is built on.

Green Campus partnership, zero cost for selected institutions

For a limited number of partner institutions, hardware and installation for the pilot block are funded under our corporate social responsibility programme, at no cost to the institution. Eligibility criteria and the documentation your finance office will need are shared at the site assessment. CSR eligibility and funding entity to be confirmed before this goes live

The records your reporting cycle already asks for

Metered data is produced as a by-product of running the system. Nobody on your staff has to compile it.

NAAC Criterion 4
Verifiable data for green campus documentation

Room-level consumption supports Criterion 4 self study with dated before and after metrics, per-student figures and monthly trend reports instead of estimated numbers.

NIRF
Per-capita conservation that can be evidenced

An institution-wide per-capita consumption baseline, and the measured reduction against it, documented month by month.

BEE energy audit
Metered records ready for audit filing

Where the institution crosses the audit threshold, room and block level data replaces estimation in the auditor's working file.

UGC guidance
Evidence for energy conservation reporting

Consumption reporting and conservation evidence for university-level sustainability submissions.

Certification
What your technical committee will ask for

BIS-certified meters to IS 13779 and IS 15959, a backend platform assessed under VAPT and Cert-In, and revenue settlement in line with RBI timelines.

Measured at live government campuses

Outcomes recorded at installed institutions. Case documents and reference contacts are shared at the assessment stage.

0%

Lower per-student monthly electricity consumption within 90 days of go-live.

IIM HOSTEL BLOCK, NORTH INDIA
Zero

Month-end billing complaints after installation, from 40 to 50 per month previously.

GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, SOUTH INDIA
0 hrs

Installation start to every room live and billing, including student app onboarding.

GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE, CENTRAL INDIA

Institution names are withheld at each institution's preference. Named references are made available at the assessment stage. Endorsement quotes and named references pending confirmation

Deployment

1

Site assessment

We visit, map the block, review the electrical layout and issue a deployment plan with timeline and specification. No cost, no obligation.

2

Pilot block install

Meters go in at panel level, students are onboarded to the app and the estate dashboard goes live. Target is 72 hours.

3

Ninety day review

Consumption change, dispute reduction and a report formatted for your management, audit and accreditation team.

4

Campus rollout

Extend block by block on a timeline that fits your academic calendar, with the same team and the same platform.

Start with one hostel block

Ninety days of consumption data from your own campus, before your institution commits to anything beyond the pilot block.

  • Site assessment at no cost and no obligation
  • Deployment plan and specification you can put before your purchase committee
  • Installation inside 72 hours with no civil work
  • Ninety day consumption and conservation report
  • Five year service term covering cloud, connectivity and maintenance
  • Selected institutions eligible for a fully funded pilot block
